We understand the unique struggles and challenges faced by refugees and immigrants.
The needs of our newest neighbors do not end after those first three months of the federally funded refugee resettlement program. Ongoing culturally appropriate support and programming are vital for successful integration and for each individual's social and emotional well-being.
Through employment, housing, education, health services, and other emerging programs, COMSA’s multi-lingual staff helps individuals and families navigate the complexities of starting a new life in Brown County, empowering them to confidently and pridefully contribute to the community that has embraced them.
COMSA is also committed to changing the stigma sometimes associated with refugees and immigrants by educating area communities about immigrant cultures and the positive aspects of accepting them as fellow community members. They are our neighbors, co-workers, classmates, and friends. They are survivors. Strong, capable people who have persevered. Resourceful, willing people who have great potential to contribute to and add value to Brown County.
What a deeper sense of understanding, love, and respect we would all have for one another if we listened to, and really heard each other’s stories. What a greater sense of community and kinship we would have if we understood where others were coming from.
