It is difficult to understand a refugee’s plight, especially here in Northeastern Wisconsin. We know a pleasant, welcoming environment. We feel safe in our homes and are afforded countless freedoms. But as a refugee, coming to the United States can be overwhelming. They have left their homelands due to turmoil, injustices, intimidation, and fear. Some have lost homes, family members, and even lucrative designations, like Doctor, Scientist, or Lawyer.
Most come with nothing. Knowing no one. But, immigrants are survivors. Strong, capable people who have persevered. Resourceful, willing people who have great potential to contribute to and add value to Brown County. They just need help navigating this new place and these new ways. That’s why there’s COMSA, a resource center serving immigrants and refugees.
