What We've Achieved
Our Impact Story is much more than numbers. Having lived experience of the same challenges as those we serve, our staff helps families and individuals who arrived here with nothing, knowing no one, thrive.
Imagine living in a new place with no family or friends to lean on to help you, now add that you do not understand the culture, possibly the language, and need a place to live, work, and send your kids to school. COMSA helps people achieve their dreams, find safety and security, feed their families, and so much more. COMSA clients have established new careers, bought their first cars, homes, and so much more. Their children grow from learning English to graduating high school and attending college over just a few years.
In 2021 we hired our first full-time Executive Director and look how quickly we have grown to meet the need. To demonstrate our growth, here are the numbers.
Assist, on average, 100 individuals a month with case management services which involve assistance with housing, employment, translation, and other services and referrals.
Provided culturally responsive childcare training and certification to 40 Somali and Afghan women.
Trained 11 individuals to attain their CDL license.
Tutor 50+ youth annually through our multi-lingual after-school program.
Supported county and city agencies to inform and educate refugees about Covid-19 and hosted vaccination events resulting in 98 individuals receiving the Vaccine.
Support local police, employers, and community partners with translation and cultural education services to improve their ability to connect and build relationships with new immigrants and refugees.
